| Question No: 58 asked by Yasir from United States on 12/5/2003 8:15:00 PM Aslaam Alaikum, what is the response of the scholars that strictly follow one of the four madhabs, in response to the Salfi claim that - since the four immams did not had access to all hadeeth in their times, so their decisions were based on limited resources. The Salfi claim that more knowledge of hadeeth has been gathered, collected and distributed since their times and so it is the duty of the scholars/mujtahids to identify any mistakes based on the collected database of hadeeth available today? They support their argument of pointing mistakes by saying that even the students of the four imams changed certain rulings when they got a ‘sahee hadeeth’ not available earlier? My next question is, can I follow ''dean'' according to the way a Salafi scholar explains, (eg. Shiekh Albani)? Please explain in detail. Jazakallah. |

By saying this you mean that the knowledge of todays scholars is more than that of Aima-e-Mujtahideen and the Sahabah (R.A). Because even the Sahabah (R.A) did not have that many Ahadith that we have today in many different books.
But we know that their Amal was correct and was according to the Hadith of Prophet Mohammad (S.A.W).
This arguement will also means that today's scholars are even more knowledgable than Imam Bukhari and he also lacked the knowledge of Ahadith. Because Imam Bukhari indicated approximately 4500 Ahadith in Saheeh Bukhari. But we see today's scholers get to read Tirmizi, Mutah Imam Malik and many other authentic books of Ahadith.
Anyways there are two categories of Saheeh Ahadith. One is called 'MUTAARIZ' and the other is 'GHAIR MUTAARIZ'. Mutaariz means conflicting that is there are some Ahadith that seem to coincide with each other. And 'Ghair Mutaariz' means there is no conflict in them.
Everyone accepts them. But in case of Mutaarif Ahadith Aima-e-Mujtahedeen decides which Hadith is 'Rajeh' (prioritized).
We, Ahnaaf, considered those Ahadith to be Rajeh which were declared Rajeh by Imam Abu Hanifa, on seeing the lives of Sahabah.
And Salafi take those Ahadith as 'Rajeh' that were 'Matrook-ul-Amal' (not in practice) in the time of Sahaba (R.A). Sheikh Albani is one of these people. Therefore his books should not be read.
Wallah o Alam Bissawab.
